Masks for Mutts is a fundraiser to support the dogs of Hope Animal Rescue by making and selling non-medical grade face masks to the general public. Each mask costs $10 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Hope Animal Rescue.

All face masks are made by a network of volunteers with the intention of keeping you safe and raising money for the dogs.  Since all of HAR’s scheduled fundraising events have been cancelled,  this will be an ongoing campaign. We appreciate your support!

Once you get your mask, be sure to post a pic on social media! #Masksformutts

How Masks for Mutts Began

What began as one person’s effort to help their foster dog, Mario, has grown into an organization-wide initiative to help raise money for as many dogs as possible. Hope Animal Rescue pulled Mario from a local shelter, knowing that he had severe breathing issues. When it was determined that he would need surgery that would cost HAR thousands of dollars, his foster, Sarah Pai, started making and selling face masks for donations as a way to raise money. The response from the community was overwhelming, and a team of volunteer mask makers was formed to keep up with the demand. The campaign was named “Masks for Mutts” and raised enough money in one month to pay for Mario’s surgery and cover the medical costs of other dogs in the rescue. Sadly, Mario’s medical issues progressed and we had to say goodbye, but his spirit lives on through this fundraising campaign that he inspired.

Now that we’ve crossed the $10,000 mark, we are amazed and humbled by all the support we’ve received. To anyone who has sewn a mask, purchased a mask, or simply shared our message: THANK YOU! We are so proud of what Masks for Mutts has become because it sums up what HAR is all about: volunteers and supporters coming together to save dogs and better our community.

Masks for Mutts will be making masks for as long as there is need so that we can help save more dogs and, of course, pay tribute to Mario, the pup that started it all. Order your Masks for Mutts today.
